Blackhawk Road had to be closed because the fire hydrants are located on the north side with the restaurant on the south. And the building is located close to the road without room for fire trucks in the parking lot.

No cause has yet been determined for the fire that destroyed the Anchor Lumber store in Silvis yesterday. Firefighters from several departments spent hours fighting the fire, and now, investigators are trying to figure out what happened.  Silvis Fire Chief David Leibovitz says he was the first to respond to the fire at 3:30 pm yesterday. And, at least eleven local departments worked for three hours to help put out the fire, partly because the city was running low on its water supply.
