Music 101

First Thursday of every month at 3:30 p.m., during Perspective

Join Mindy Heusel and Augustana College music professor Jacob Bancks once a month for Music 101.  During these short musical conversations, Bancks' passion for connecting with and developing audiences for concert music truly shines through.

Bancks is a composer in his own right, with recordings that have been released by American Modern Recordings and broadcast on BBC Radio 3, American Public Media’s Performance Today, and WFMT-Chicago Classical Radio. He has earned awards, honors, and commissions from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, BMI, the Tanglewood Festival of Contemporary Music, the U.S. Department of Education, Soli Deo Gloria, the International Double Reed Society, the Hanson Institute for American Music, and the Commission Project.  

Jacob Bancks is Assistant Professor of music theory and composition at Augustana College in Rock Island, IL.
