Quad Cities hotels, restaurants, and tourist attractions will offer year-long discounts. For the 17th year, the Quad Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau is promoting "Be a Tourist in Your Own Backyard."
Spokeswoman Jessica Waytenick, says the businesses gave away 3,000 wristbands last summer.
"Last year's program was successful and that was something we wanted to expand to a year-round program. So Be a Tourist in Your Own Backyard weekend seemed like the perfect weekend to kick that off."
This year, the bureau has 10,000 wristbands to hand out to anyone who wants one. People use them to get discounts at the Figge Art Museum, Family Museum, Putnam Museum, and 29 other places.
Starting Friday, January 12, they will be available at the conventions and visitors bureau and all the participating businesses.
