Workshop: How New Tech Can Help Manufacturers

Quad Cities Manufacturing Innovation Hub and Quad Cities Chamber

Representatives from local companies, colleges, and other organizations will learn about new technology, and how to take advantage of it. Tomorrow on Arsenal Island, the Quad Cities Manufacturing Innovation Hub will host a Defense and Manufacturing Industry Workshop.

Executive Director of the hub, Mike Coughlin, says those who attend will learn about "Intelligent Manufacturing Systems" and how fast they're changing the industry.  The morning session will feature an address by HP's Tim Heller, Director of 3D Printing in the Americas. Participants will also work together in small groups facilitated by experts.

One goal is to increase awareness of new technology. But another is to encourage companies to collaborate. Coughlin says they'll save time and money by working together on new tech research and implementation.

Tomorrow's Defense and Manufacturing Industry Workshop will run from 7:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the arsenal's Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center. Its new commanding officer, Colonel Kenneth Letcher will also discuss contract opportunities on the island.
