After blustery conditions through tomorrow morning, the Quad Cities could get a lot more snow. The National Weather Service in Davenport has issued a wind chill advisory for parts of eastern Iowa and northwestern Illinois. It'll be in effect from 9:00 p.m. until tomorrow morning at 10:00. As of this morning, at the Quad City Airport, 2.3 inches of snow had fallen, with 1.5 inches at the Davenport Airport, and 0.8 at the airport in Dubuque.
Meteorologists say a winter storm with potentially heavy snow will arrive late tomorrow afternoon and continue through Monday night.
So, the weather service has issued a winter storm warning for locations along and north of Interstate 80 where the heaviest snowfall, 5 to 8 inches, is expected. That includes the Quad Cities metro area which is forecast to get 5 to 7 inches of snow. The warning will be in effect from Monday at 6:00 p.m. through Tuesday at 6:00 a.m.
In addition, a winter weather advisory will be in effect for locations to the south, where forecasters expect 3 to 5 inches of accumulation. Then we can anticipate more dangerously cold wind chills for the middle of this week. More information is available at the NWS Quad Cities.
