The commanding general of First Army is leaving. On Thursday, during a "relinquishment of command ceremony" on Arsenal Island, First Army will say good-bye to Lieutenant General Stephen Twitty.
After two years here as commanding general, Twitty will become the deputy commander for the US European Command.
Taking his place will be Major General Erik Peterson - he'll become acting commanding general after serving for one year leading First Army Division West.
First Army mobilizes, trains, and deploys all units of the Army National Guard and Army Reserve.
