News headlines for the morning of October 3, 2017

  • Six weeks after asking for help, police may have caught a break in the 21-year-old disappearance of Trudy Appleby. Monday, officers searched two properties on Campbell's Island using cadaver dogs, and say they may have found human remains. 

  • A settlement in a sexual harassment complaint against Republicans in the Iowa Senate has been officially approved, putting an end to a lawsuit alleging a sexually-charged atmosphere in the GOP caucus. 

  • Along with going to class, students at 17 area high schools will spend the next six weeks collecting food for the needy. The 32nd annual Student Hunger Drivebegan Monday night and will end November 9.

  • One week after a fire closed a Moline school, students and staff have moved to a temporary site. Franklin Elementary re-opened in the former Western Illinois University building on 60th St. in Moline.
