'Talking Art' With Dr. Jennifer Popple

Augustana College
Augsutana College students will perform "In the Next Room, or the vibrator play" the final weekend of January and the first weekend of February.

Augustana College students will perform “In the Next Room, or the vibrator play” at the college’s Brunner Theatre in January and February of 2018.

Dr. Jennifer Popple

Dr. Jennifer Popple, the production's director, talks about the historical background of the play, the themes that are woven throughout the production, and why she enjoys the balance achieved between directing and teaching within the Department of Theatre at Augustana College.

“In the Next Room, or the vibrator play” was written by Sarah Ruhl (who joined Talking Art in October). The play was nominated for three Tony awards in 2010, and was also a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in 2010.

Performances will be held on January 26-27 and February 2-3 at 7:30 p.m., as well as January 28 and February 4 at 1:30 p.m. All performances will be held at the Brunner Theatre Center (main stage) on the Augustana College Campus, 3750 7th Avenue in Rock Island. Tickets can be purchased online or at the ticket office 60 minutes prior to each performance.
