Six Candidates for Dav. City Council

Six candidates want to represent Davenport's Third Ward on the city council. They all filed enough signatures to qualify for the ballot, to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Bill Boom following his conviction in federal court of a felony.

The six are Andrew Arnold, Barry Donald, Joe Heinrichs, Marion Meginnis, Ursula Becky Peters, and Carlton Wills.

A primary will be held on June 13th, and the two receiving the most votes will advance to the general election on July 11th.

The deadline to file for the vacancy was last Friday (5/19), and no objections to any of the six were filed by Monday's deadline.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
