Rock Island's first female firefighter has retired. Suzanne Vallejo was first hired in 1994, promoted to lieutenant in 2006, and, most recently, served as emergency medical services coordinator for the Rock Island Fire Department. Fire chief James Fobert says Vallejo's twenty years of "experience and dedication will be missed."
