After a long national search, Rock Island County has officially hired a new county administrator. Wednesday night, the county board voted unanimously to approve a contract with Jim Snider.
Snider is currently the administrator for Stephenson County, based in Freeport, and says he can begin working here in a month.
After receiving 38 applications, a consultant and county officials narrowed the list to two finalists. The other finalist dropped out to accept another job, and Snider was interviewed last month.
He's worked for Stephenson County for nearly 2 years, and has a total of 21 years in local government as a city and county administrator. He'll replace Dave Ross who resigned last September to take a similar job in Florida.
