River Island Company Breaks Ground on Expansion

A Rock Island company broke ground today for a new expansion that will allow it to add jobs. The Rock Island River Terminal Corporation says the new 8 million dollar project will allow it to un-load more cargo from Mississippi River barges and load it onto trucks
Chairman, Jeff Goldstein, says the expansion will have benefits beyond the extra cargo it can distribute. Manager Tim Pressly says expanding the river terminal means it will need to hire more workers.
Rock Island River Terminal, a division of Alter Barge, signed a new lease with the city that will last untill 2095. The terminal is in Rock Island's Enterprise Zone, which will cut down on construction costs. The expansion should be finished next April.
