RadioShack Closings Include QC Stores

RadioShack

Three stores in the Quad Cities are among the nearly 18-hundred that RadioShack is going to close. Last week, the consumer electronics retailer filed for bankruptcy, and announced the list of closings, including 12 in Iowa and about 70 in Illinois.

Locally, RadioShack plans to close its stores in Southpark and Northpark malls, plus the location on North Brady Street in Davenport, near 35th Street.
Closings also will include Cedar Rapids, Galesburg, Peru, Rockford, and East Peoria.
Staying open, however, will be RadioShacks in Moline - on 41st Avenue Drive near Walmart - and in Geneseo, Kewanee, Aledo, Clinton, and Muscatine.
Based in Fort Worth Texas, the company has a total of about 4,000 stores across the country.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
