As the Red Cross prepares for Tropical Storm Isaac, the Quad Cities chapter has sent several volunteers to the Gulf Coast, including three more this morning. Nichalous Doughan and Catherine Basten from Dubuque, along with Karen Nelson from Rock Falls flew to Mississippi and Alabama to help prepare for the storm's landfall.
Kasey Kelley, with the Red Cross, says the volunteers have different specialties including organizing other volunteers and setting up shelters to care for large numbers of people.
Kelly says an Emergency Response Vehicle from the Quad Cities chapter left for the Gulf Coast over the weekend and is designed to feed large numbers of people.
As of today (Mon.) 13 volunteers from the region have been sent including 6 from the Quad Cities and 4 from Dubuque.
