QC Theatre Workshop fundraiser to create professional productions

Hoping to become a professional troupe, the QC Theatre Workshop is holding a month-long fundraiser. Through the end of December, its accepting donations at its website so that it can put on more and better shows in the future.

Artistic Director Tyson Danner says their budget is small now, so the Workshop relies on volunteers.

The QC Theatre Workshop puts on 4 to 5 plays and musicals a year.  Recent shows include "A Green River" and "Red," plus the musical "Bat Boy."

Danner says there is no set ticket price. Instead, the Workshop uses a "Pay What It's Worth" pricing policy, where audience members can donate however much they think the production was worth.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
