QC Airport Drill

Local residents may hear a lot of sirens Wednesday morning, but don't worry. It's just a drill at the Quad City Airport.

Spokeswoman Cathie Rochau says the Federal Aviation Administration requires airports to hold "mass casualty training exercises" every three years.

Nineteen local agencies, including police and fire departments and the Red Cross, will be joined by the Illinois State Police, FBI, FAA, and Transportation Security Administration to practice responding to a commercial airplane crash, or similar large-scale event. And up to 70 volunteers will act as victims.

The drill, and all the sirens, can be expected to start about 8 am.
