Police Brace For Thousands Of Visitors In Downtown Moline

Police are expecting as many as 15,000 people in downtown Moline Saturday night.

A country music concert at the iWireless Center and a bike race downtown will cause traffic delays and road closures starting at 3 p.m. or earlier.

Detective Scott Williams says an additional 15 officers will be paid overtime to direct traffic and patrol the area.

"With all the parking lots downtown we'll also have street department with additional signage so we'll have street department employees deployed to all the different lots and helping and assisting with the officers. So we feel confident that we have plenty of manpower and we can draw from extra."

The bike race starts around 4 p.m. and the route covers 4th and 5th avenues, plus 11th, 14th,19th and 27th streets.

The concert at the iWireless Center featuring Tim McGraw and Faith Hill starts at 7:30.
