Officers Improve Memorial for Fallen Law Enforcement

Quad Cities Law Enforcement Officers Memorial

A local group is fixing up a memorial for police officers killed in the line of duty. Next month, members will unveil the changes at the Justice Center in Rock Island.
The Quad Cities Law Enforcement Officers Memorial is a committee of police officers and family members. President Troy Sullivan says they raise money to support families and other officers, and preserve the memorial.
The site includes a statue, benches, and bricks engraved with officers' names.

Over time, the weather has damaged parts of the memorial. And, there is only room for one more name to be added to the walls.

Sullivan says the first phase includes placing the statue on a platform, plus leveling and cleaning the site. That's about half-way done.
And, the Law Enforcement Memorial committee is still raising money for the next two phases, which will add space for names. To pay for the 50,000 dollar project, they are selling engraved bricks, for 75 or 150 dollars.

Sullivan says the first part of the project will be done by May 3rd, on the day of the Quad Cities Police Memorial Service.
