New President for Black Hawk College

Black Hawk College

On January first, Bettie Truitt will have the same job but a different title. Trustees of Black Hawk College have selected her to be the next president of the college - currently she's been serving as interim president.

The announcement was made today in a memo to employees, signed by trustees chairman David Emerick. He said the decision was in recognition of Doctor Truitt's "management skills, academic knowledge, and her ongoing dedication to Black Hawk College.
Formerly serving as executive vice president, she became the interim president last summer following the retirement in June of Thomas Baynum.
Just last month, Black Hawk trustees approved a contract for Truitt to lead the college while the board held a national search for a new president.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
