New Plaque at the I Wireless Center

WVIK Staff

Some key people in the planning and building of the I Wireless Center were honored today. A plaque with their names was dedicated in the lobby.

It includes the names of state senators Clarence Darrow and Denny Jacobs, and state representatives Joel Brunsvold and Bob DeJaegher.
With their assistance, the Quad City Civic Center Authority was formed, and funded, and that resulted in the building of the civic center along River Drive in Moline.
The new plaque is just below another that honors two other people who played important roles in the project - former Deere ceo Robert Hanson and Moline Mayor Robert Anderson.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
