New Leader for JMC

Joint Munitions Command

One of the commands on Arsenal Island will get a new leader Thursday. During an Assumption of Command ceremony, Colonel Michelle Letcher will take over the Joint Munitions Command.

Letcher comes to the Quad Cities from the Redstone Arsenal in Alabama where she served as Executive Officer to the Commanding General of the Army Material Command.

A native of Oak Forest, Illinois, she's been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, and served in Germany plus most Army posts in the US, but not at the Rock Island Arsenal.

Letcher takes over from Rhonda VanDeCasteele who's served as executive director of the Joint Munions Command for the past two months.

The Thursday ceremony begins at 11 am in Heritage Hall on Arsenal Island.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
