A new website is now available with comprehensive information about biking and hiking trails in the Quad Cities. QC Trails dot org is the result of a partnership of the Quad City Health Initiative and Bi-State Regional Commission.
Lisa Miller, from Bi-State, says the interactive site can be used with any device - computer, tablet, or phone.
Funding for the project came from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and a grant program called the Partnership to Improve Community Health.
Miller says just designing a new website probably won't be enough to convince local residents to become active - there has to be more.
And there are "electronic badges" available for completing various tasks, 16 in all so far, such as the marathoner badge for covering 26 miles on a local trail.
Qctrails.org also includes photos and comments, plus information about access points, degree of difficulty, and whether pets are allowed.
