Instead of having to search for the information online, or call the city, Davenport is now offering to notify residents when snow emergencies are in effect. More than 200 people have signed up so far to receive automated text messages and voice messages when parking is prohibited on snow routes.
Robin Dunn, from the public works department, says this information is already available from many sources, including Twitter, Facebook, and from local media. But people have to try to find it.
The message will tell Davenport residents when the snow emergency will go into effect, when they have to move their cars off of snow routes, and when parking prohibitions will go into effect downtown.
Dunn says signing up is easy - just go to the Davenport website, and be ready to provide your cell phone number, and the provider of your service.
