A decision on where to hold Stanley Liggins' next trial will be made soon. That was the promise from District Judge Marlita Greve after three days of hearing motions in Davenport, including a change of venue motion from defense attorneys.
Liggins has been convicted twice for the 1990 murder of a 9 year old girl, but both verdicts have been thrown out by appellate courts.
The next trial is now scheduled for May, and his attorneys want it moved to either Waterloo or Des Moines, while prosecutors say there's no need because an impartial jury could be chosen in Scott County.
