"It's all about the youth." That's what motivates the Kiwanis Club of Moline to raise money all year to help children and teens. Last week, it gave $5,400 in grants to 15 organizations.
Spokeswoman, Cathie Rochau, says Moline schools, Two Rivers YMCA, and the Boys and Girls Clubs received grants to pay for after school snacks.
The club also wanted to help teachers and students at Franklin Elementary buy supplies. A fire at the school in September forced them to move into the former WIU building, just off John Deere Road.
Other agencies that received grants include the Boy Scouts Illowa Council, Child Abuse Council, Good Fellow Fund, Habitat for Humanity, Moline library, Salvation Army, Toys for Tots, World Relief, Youth Hope, WQPT Public Television, and WVIK, Quad Cities Public Radio.
