Mississippi Valley Fair Announces More Grandstand Acts

Mississippi Valley Fair

An old fan favorite is set to return to the Mississippi Valley Fair next summer.

Country music star Toby Keith will play to a grandstand crowd on August 2nd.

The fair announced Keith's return Friday, as well as another performer set to take the stage: Sublime with Rome.

Mississippi Valley Fair general manager Shawn Loter describes Sublime with Rome as a fusion of rock and reggae.

"We've never had anything like [Sublime with Rome] here at our fair, so that's the reason why I went with them this year, to try something different, get a different crowd that's into that music, just to see how it goes."

Sublime with Rome is a collaboration between a former member of the now-defunct rock band Sublime and guitarist Rome Ramirez.

The fair's announcement adds to the two other grandstand musicians already booked: country singers Billy Currington and Justin Moore.

Loter expects to announce two more grandstand acts in the coming months.

He also says the fairgrounds will host a two-day Saint Patrick's Day party in March at the fairgrounds' heated indoor facility. It's the first time the fair has hosted such an event. Bagpipes and Irish music will play, as well as rock and country musicians. Attendees can also pitch their tents on the fairgrounds and stay overnight.
