Mississippi River Rising

May 1, 2018

The Mississippi River is rising and should reach flood stage, from Dubuque to the Quad Cities, this weekend.

The National Weather Service says Tuesday afternoon at Lock and Dam 11 in Dubuque, the river was nearly 2 feet below flood stage. It's expected to reach flood stage on Friday afternoon, go up slightly, and hold at that level at least through Monday.

At Fulton, the Mississippi is about 2 feet below flood stage. The forecast is for flood stage on Saturday night, then rise two-tenths of a foot, and hold at that level at least through Tuesday.

And at the Quad Cities, the river is two feet below flood stage Tuesday afternoon, and expected to reach flood stage Saturday afternoon. The river should then continue to rise and crest at seven-tenths of a foot over flood stage Monday afternoon.
