Prosecutors in Rock Island County have dismissed charges against a 22 year old Moline man whose murder trial was supposed to begin Tuesday. Yolanduis McDuffie was accused of killing 24 year old Derek Jackson of Rock Island in December of 20-13.
State's Attorney, John McGehee, says the case against McDuffie was dismissed "without prejudice," which means charges may be re-filed. He says new evidence was revealed before the trial began, leading to the decision.
McGehee can't discuss the new evidence but will continue prosecuting a co-defendent on murder and armed robbery charges.
Aaron Henderson's next court date is set for next week.
