A new effort is underway to get young, professional women involved in the community. It's called Lead(H)er, pronounced "leader," and the founder is Melissa Pepper who's director of marketing for a law firm.
Pepper wants to connect young women with experienced leaders.
She calls the program "strike a match" because it'll try to ignite a match between an experienced older person and a young woman.
During a launch party for Leader this week, Pepper received a 10,000 dollar check from Royal Neighbors to get started. Other corporate sponsors include Missman, Northwest Bank and Trust, the Girl Scouts, Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center, and Integrity Integrated.
