I-74 Bridge Work Nearly Done

Good news for local drivers - one of this summer's biggest traffic headaches is nearly over.

The Illinois Department of Transportation says Civil Constructors has finished repairs on one side of the I-74 bridge - and that means two lanes of open road and open ramps from Bettendorf to Moline on southbound I-74 - from Middle Road to John Deere Road.

Work continues on the other side of the bridge, northbound (Iowa bound) I-74. Completion is expected by mid-September. Motorists should continue to be alert for lane closures and merging traffic in the construction zone.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
