The Rock Island County Republican Party plans to file a lawsuit today over problems with voting machines. Chairman Bill Bloom says about 30 voters have contacted the GOP office to complain about touch screens that change their votes from republican candidates to democratic candidates.

And Bloom says more people call every day.
Bloom thinks the source of the problem is technical and emphasizes that county republicans are NOT saying it's intentional.

He says according to the Illinois State Board of Elections, the voting machines are calibrated at the county building before elections.

The county should move machines first, then calibrate to avoid jostling in transit so they're more likely to be right.

As of 10:30 this morning, Bloom had not heard from Rock Island County Clerk, Karen Kinney. And he plans to file the lawsuit this afternoon if she doesn't respond.

On Thursday at her office, Kinney demonstrated for both parties re-calibration and other tests to confirm the machines are working properly.
