Scott County Family Y

Frank Klipsch is stepping down again, but he doesn't plan to slow down. On Monday, Scott County Family "Y" employees, friends, and family  wished him well as he prepares to retire from his position as President of the YMCA's Youth and Family Foundation.

Two years ago, Klipsch took the fundraising job after serving as the CEO of the organization since 1987. Under his leadership, the foundation has raised $8.5-9.5 million to improve five YMCA locations in Scott County and expand Camp Abe Lincoln. The money was also spent on land to build a new Y in downtown Davenport, at the corner of River Drive and East 4th Street.

Next month, Klipsch will start teaching a course on leadership at St. Ambrose University. He has four adult children and ten grandkids to keep him busy, too.

Klipsch says he gets up early and likes to be actively involved.

The Y held a reception for Klipsch last night, but officially his last day on the job will be New Year's Eve.

Annual membership at all Scott County Family Y locations is currently almost 42,000.
