A summer theater group needs help raising money so it can receive a grant as part of its endowment campaign. Tomorrow night, the Genesius Guild will host an Art Treasures auction in Davenport.
Recently, the Iowa Cultural Trust awarded the GenesiusTheatre Foundation 30,000 dollars, but with the condition that it raise a triple match before the end of next year (2016).
Executive Director of the guild, Doug Tschopp (chop), says a large number of books created by Bill Hannan will be up for sale. A live auction will be held will a few items including replicas of masks used in past Genesius productions.
Tschopp is also confident a print by Chris Wooten entitled, "Summer Galaxy," will be popular. It depicts the theater setting at Lincoln Park in Rock Island. The artist is the daughter of the group's founder, Don Wooten.
Art Treasures of the Genesius Guild runs from 6 until 8 tomorrow night at the Rogalskiballroom at Saint Ambrose University in Davenport. The live auction will begin at 7:00.
