Today's headlines:

  • the Mississippi River should crest in the Quad Cities today 2.5 feet over flood stage,
  • Augustana College will add on to its science building,
  • and a proposal to name a western Illinois post office in honor of a soldier killed in Afghanistan.

Cloudy today with a 30 % chance of rain. We should have a high near 67.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
