First West Nile cases in QC

For the first time this year, the West Nile Virus has been detected in Rock Island County. This afternoon, the health department announced positive results came back from tests on two birds found in Rock Island.
These are the first positive tests of any kind in the county so far this summer.
The Health Department says usually, the West Nile Virus is found in birds first, followed by positive tests for mosquitoes. Then in some years, people get sick.
And this should serve as a reminder that human cases are possible - in fact this is the peak time of year for human cases of West Nile.
