Residents of Milan will soon benefit from the generosity of a local couple.
Last summer, the Grant W Brissman and Virginia M Brissman Foundation was established to improve the quality of life in Milan, and Monday announced its first grants. Grant Brissman founded Brissman's Auto Supply in Milan, and his wife worked for the Illinois Bell Telephone Company. And their estate created a 2.8 million dollar foundation.
Recipients of the first grants include the Church of Peace meal site in the village, Children's Therapy Center of the Quad Cities, Milan Christian Food Pantry, and Milan Parks Department. The seven grants total 63,000 dollars. The Brissman Foundation is administered by the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend.
