Faces of Homelessness

Who is homeless in Dubuque, and what help is available for them - those are among the questions to be answered Tuesday night when Project Concern sponsors its second annual "Faces of Homelessness" event.

Malia Dunn, from Project Concern, says their goal is to promote awareness in the city.

A panel discussion will include people who are homeless, and some formerly homeless city residents, plus people from local agencies who provide shelter and other assistance, such as drug and mental health counseling.

The "Faces of Homelessness" will be held at Prescott Elementary School in Dubuque Tuesday night  beginning at 6:30.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
