A developer from the Quad Cities plans to renovate a vacant building in downtown Clinton, and turn it into apartments. Tonight (tues) Economic Growth Corporation will hold a meeting for contractors and suppliers interested in working on the project.
The president, Brian Hollenback, says Growth has led several similar projects in Rock Island, and now is proposing to spend 8.3 million dollars on the 90 year old Wilson Building, located in the 200-block of 5th Avenue South.

The building will be converted into commercial space, plus 32 one and two bedroom, and loft, units of between 500 and 13-hundred square feet.
Hollenback says Economic Growth will be the developer and Bush Construction from Davenport will be the general contractor. Work could begin in late summer, and be completed in about one year.
The city of Clinton has agreed to contribute 1.5 million dollars to the project.
