Deere Seeding Group Investment

Deere and Company plans a major new investment in the Quad Cities. Today, the company announced plans to spend $58 million to upgrade the John Deere Seeding Group, in Moline.
Spokesman Ken Golden says Deere will redesign the factory that makes planters and seeding equipment to improve efficiency and quality.
The redesign will start next year and take about three years. It will include more automation and robots, but no change is anticipated in the current workforce of about 800.
Golden says Deere first began making planting equipment in 1877, and moved to the current site on the Moline riverfront in 1879.
