Deere to Lay Off 180 Employees in the Quad Cities

Deere & Company

John Deere is laying off 180 employees in the Quad Cities. Deere and Company told employees today  about the reductions at Davenport Works and Harvester Works.

Spokesman Ken Golden says the indefinite layoffs include 150 employees at Harvester Works in East Moline and 30 at Davenport Works. The layoff at Harvester Works will take effect September 18th, and the Davenport Works layoff takes effect October 2nd.

Golden says Deere is continuing to adjust its workforce size in response to market demand for products. Earlier this month, Deere announced its third quarter earnings, and forecasted equipment sales would decrease about 21 percent for 2015.

Approximately 15-hundred manufacturing employees are on layoff at Deere.
