Davenport Receives National Recognition for Mississippi Riverfront

USA Today

One of America's best riverfronts is right here in the Quad Cities. Today, USA Today and TenBest.com announced the winners of this year's contest to choose the "Best American Riverfront," and Davenport finished third.

Wilmington, North Carolina received the most votes, followed by Spokane, Washington. Dubuque trailed just behind Davenport, finishing fourth.

Davenport Mayor, Bill Gluba, says the national recognition will attract tourists to the area and boost the economy.

Twenty cities competed in the annual contest, including Portland, Nashville, and Cincinnati.
