Two years after it was severely damaged by fire, Davenport's Credit Island lodge has re-opened. This afternoon, city officials held a ribbon cutting and open house to celebrate.
Scott Hock, director of Parks and Recreation, says insurance paid for most of the 1.5 million dollar cost, including a new roof and hvac system, plus instead of flood protection, the lodge now has "flood vents."
The main floor of the building is made of steel, concrete, and plastic, but no wood or drywall that could be damaged by a flood.
Hock says one of the most noticeable changes is the community room on the ground floor.
It also now has sprinklers to prevent future fires and is handicapped accessible.
Hock says now that the weather has warmed up, the exterior work can be completed, including painting and new sidewalks.
