Crane Resigns from United Way

United Way

The United Way of the Quad Cities will soon start looking for a new leader. Friday it announced its president, Scott Crane, has resigned.

Crane has led the organization for ten years. And in a press release, Crane says he plans to spend more time with his family, and accept what he calls "a new leadership challenge in the future."

In recent years under his leadership, the United Way made some major changes in setting priorities, the application process, and which organizations are funded.

Effective immediately, the United Way will be led by Karrie Abbott, Vice President of Community Impact. She'll serve as Chief Operating Officer.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
