Corporate Hunger Drive Ends

Another effort to "raise" food for needy people in the Quad Cities area will announce its results on Wednesday. Participants in the 5th annual Student Hunger Drive Corporate Challenge turned in their contributions to the River Bend Food Bank in Davenport on Friday.

Hunger Drive executive director, Denise Hester, says 33 businesses spent the past month collecting cash and food, ranging from a single person law office up to the Alcoa plant with more than one thousand employees.

"With the colder temperatures, so many people have to choose between heating their homes and putting food on the table. Our mission is to help that decision-making process be a little bit easier."

The find results will be announced during an awards reception Wednesday at the Hy-Vee store in Moline, at 7th Street and John Deere Road.
