Elves, covered bridges, and the music of Abba will all be featured next season at Circa 21 Dinner Playhouse in Rock Island. Tuesday it announced the line-up for its 41st season that begins in November.
Founder and producer Denny Hitchcock says the new season traditionally starts with a holiday show, and it'll be "Elf: the Musical," an adaptation of the Will Ferrell movie that's already been on Broadway.
"This year we were really lucky because we got the rights for Elf about two years before it was supposed to be available to us. It's never been produced in the Quad Cities, I don't believe it's been through here on tour, so it's going to be brand new both for us and for the area."
That'll be followed by several musicals, including "Freaky Friday," the latest installment of the Church Basement Ladies, the Tony award winning "Bridges of Madison County," and "Mama Mia" - featuring the music of Abba, it was a musical and then a movie.
Hitchcock says the new season will end with a new comedy, and the only non-musical on the list, "Mama Won't Fly."
