The Community Foundation of the Great River Bend has been rebranded. Today, it announced that the organization will now be called the Quad Cities Community Foundation.
President and CEO Sherry Ristau says the new name makes it clear who they serve.
"We want our community foundation to grow. Not just for the sake of growing in assets. We want to grow, because the more we grow, the more we can give back. The more donnors give back. We simply want to grow, primarily so we can do more for the Quad Cities."
For example, the foundation has given the Child Abuse Council a 100 thousand dollar grant, which will allow it to expand the Doula program to the entire Quad Cities, not just Illinois.
"This is an awesome opportunity to have impact in the life of a child, and the new mom, right from the very beginning - to help them with the child development and what's most important for children the day they're born and after."
While the name of the foundation has changed, Ristau says its values are not changing. The Quad Cities Community Foundation started in Davenport about 55 years ago and expanded 30 years later to Scott and Rock Island Counties. Last year it distributed 15.6 million dollars in gifts.
