A new wing at Saint Ambrose University's Center for Health Sciences Education now has a name. Thanks to a one million dollar grant, the university today dedicated the Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver Health Sciences Education Wing, in Davenport.
Sandy Cassady, dean of the College of Health and Human Services, says the new wing opened a year ago for the new Master of Physician Assistant Studies program. And thanks to the Carver Charitable Trust, it has state-of-the-art equipment and facilities.
The three-year physician assistant program can enroll 30 students per year, and currently has 10 applicants for each seat in the class.
Saint Ambrose president, Sister Joan Lecinski, says the Carver Trust has given a total of 2.5 million dollars to the university's health sciences programs.
The Master of Physician Assistant Studies program is one of just 200 in the US.
The Saint Ambrose health science programs include nursing, physical therapy, and occupational therapy.
