Bustos begins her new job in nation's capitol

The new Congress was sworn in yesterday, and one of the new members is Cheri Bustos from the Quad Cities. The democrat from East Moline was elected in November to represent Illinois' 17th district.

After officially joining the 113th Congress, Bustos issued a statement:

"As this newest session of Congress is called to order, I'm incredibly honored and humbled to have the opportunity to represent the hardworking families of Illinois' 17th District. From Rockford to the Quad-Cities to Peoria and everywhere in between, I will work day in and day out with a spirit of bi-partisanship and Midwestern common sense to bring jobs, economic opportunity and a better future to communities across the district."

Her swearing in also marks the end for republican Bobby Schilling from Colona who lost to Bustos in November. He ended his term this week voting against the fiscal cliff compromise that was approved by the House and Senate.
