Black Hawk College Students Now Living on Campus in the Quad Cities

Dozens of students at a local community college now have a place, on campus, to call home. Yesterday, Black Hawk College held an open house and ribbon cutting for The Villas at Black Hawk in East Moline.

Rosemary Boesen, Executive Director of the school's foundation, says the apartments are located next to Parking Lot 4, just across 34th Avenue. The developer, Bluffstone LLC, owns and operates the villas which have 120 beds. The apartment complex also includes a clubhouse with a fitness center, laundry room, meeting rooms, and rec room with televisions and a pool table.

The project is a joint effort of Black Hawk College, its foundation which owns the land, and Bluffstone. Based in Bettendorf, Bluffstone currently owns and manages more than 2,000 beds on nine college campuses, including Scott Community College and Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg. Boesen says Bluffstone has also taken over management of Prairie Pointe Apartments for students who go to Black Hawk East.
