It's Bix weekend with the Quad City Times Bix 7 Road Race and Downtown Davenport's Street Fest.
Tonight's Junior Bix starts at 6 p.m. for three- to twelve-year-old kids. The races will be run on East 3rd and 4th Streets near the Times building.
Tomorrow's Bix 7 will begin at 8 a.m. on Brady at 3rd Street. Runners will compete for a $50,000 purse, with both men's and women's champions receiving $12,500.
Two-time Bix champion and Olympian, Meb Keflezighi, is set to run this year. He was a silver medalist in the 2004 Olympics, and Meb has won both the New York and Boston marathons. Kenya's Silas Kipruto will try to win the Bix 7 for the third time.
In the women's race, Cynthia Limo from Kenya will defend her title. And Mary Keitany, who's also a Kenyan, will try to win her first Bix 7 after winning the New York Marathon twice.
The Street Fest will be held today and tomorrow on 2nd Street, between Brady and Ripley streets in Davenport. It's free and includes a full line-up of bands and musicians.
